Early Days, written by David Storey and directed by Lindsay Anderson, opened at the Theatre Royal, Brighton in March 1980 before moving to the Cottesloe at the National Theatre and then to the Comedy Theatre (now the Harold Pinter theatre). Jocelyn Herbert’s design evokes foliage in a garden, with two wooden garden chairs and a table (as shown in the set model above).
